September 15, 2011
Solar manufacturer and leasing services provider, Sunseap Group, today announced that its subsidiary, Sunseap Enterprises, has won the Housing Development Board's (HDB) solar leasing tender contract to install and supply 2 megawatts of photovoltaic (PV) rooftop solar system in Punggol eco-town. The lease option is believed to be the first-ever of its kind in Singapore and in the region. The program helps building owners stay competitive while doing the right thing for the environment.
A signing ceremony was held on 15 September 2011 at the HDB Hub in Toa Payoh between Sunseap Enterprises and the statutory board. The tender is part of HDB's Solar Capability Building Programme, supported by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Sustainable Development. The generated electricity from the solar panel will be used by Pasir Ris-Punggol Town Council to power lights in common areas, lifts and pumps, among other services.
"This award augments Sunseap Leasing's track record as a reliable solar leasing services provider while the partnership between our company and HDB marks a great initiative in moving towards sustainable technology. The move to solar energy is no doubt a win-win decision and we hope to inspire more solar adoption in our community," says Frank Phuan, Director of Sunseap Leasing.
The solar leasing tender involves:
• Pasir Ris-Punggol will purchase electricity produced from the solar systems.
• Electricity prices will not be higher than the prevailing electricity tariff rates, as published on a quarterly basis by the SP Services.
Solar power now more affordable with new lease option by Sunseap.
Following HDB's Solar leasing, Sunseap Group today announced the introduction of a solar lease program for commercial building owners that makes clean, renewable energy more affordable, accessible, and competitive relative to conventional sources.
The new solar lease program by the company provides a complete and easy option that is perfect for freehold and leasehold commercial building owners interested in installing solar on their rooftops without paying the high upfront costs or worrying about the ongoing care and maintenance. This innovative solution allows customers to lock in competitive rates for electricity over the course of the lease period.
The lease option will be managed by Sunseap Leasing, an affiliate of Sunseap Enterprise, and includes installation of a photovoltaic solar panel at a fraction of its costs, system maintenance and monitoring supported by an electricity production guarantee and comprehensive warranty during the appointed the lease period, which can last up to 20 years. The solar panel system is custom-designed and tailor fit for each customer's location, budget and electrical consumption habits.
"This is great news for those who are looking to go green, which is considered a clean and a responsible choice and yet do not wish to spend on huge upfront costs," said Lawrence Wu, Co-Director of Sunseap Leasing. "In the past some people have concerns about the high upfront costs of using solar power. By partnering with Sunseap today, we are making solar energy more affordable through the lease program."
